Frosty Hollow Farm Bed and Breakfast

September is almost gone and what a busy month it has been!  Mr P and I took a few days and drove north to Potter County, "God's Country", here is Pennsylvania.  This was our first experience in staying at a bed and breakfast and it certainly didn't disappoint.
We arrived at Frosty Hollow Farm Bed and Breakfast frostyhollowbandb.com
on Sunday afternoon.   Maggie, the resident Corgi, met us and escorted us into the barn where check in was as simple as letting us know where our room was located (in the farmhouse) and what time and where breakfast was served each morning.
I had booked us a stay in one of the rooms in the farmhouse which is the first picture above.  Our stay in the farmhouse included the use of a full service kitchen, a dining area, a living room with a big screen TV and a screened in porch that wrapped around two side of the farm house with lots of comfortable seating and beautiful views.
In addition to the farmhouse, there is a small cottage that can be rented and several rooms in the barn which is also home for the owners of the B&B, Joe and Gail.
Joe, Gail and their family couldn't be more gracious and caring hosts.  Breakfast was served between the hours of 7-9 AM and each morning the menu was written on a blackboard at the entrance to the dining room.  To get to the dining room, one had to enter Gail's Country Mercantile shop which contains all sorts of goodies from candles, food and country items galore.  The walk through the shop set the tone for our time in the dining area which was comfort itself.  Every morning I made sure to have some of their warm, seasoned Brandywine sliced tomatoes that were picked in the greenhouse just prior to breakfast.  One of my favorites was the breakfast pizza and I'm hoping that I can get   the recipe.  It was most tasty.
All the rooms in the farmhouse were occupied while we were there and as a result we met a bunch of nice people from all over including Montana, Chicago and Ohio.  The little cottage was also rented and at least two of the four rooms in the barn were also occupied.
Joe and Gail (and their daughter-in-law) were in the dining room each morning dispensing not only good food but wonderful conversation and information about the farm and how it became a B&B.
On our final morning there, we were greeted by the resident cat and just outside the front door the free range chickens whose eggs we enjoyed that morning along with our sausage and potato bake casserole.
If you have reason to travel to Potter County I would highly recommend a stay at Frosty Hollow Bed and Breakfast.  You won't be disappointed.  Sights in that area include Cherry Springs State Park (the darkest spot in the state and known for its stargazing), the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon and the lovely town of Wellsboro.
I'll be back with another post on some of the scenery from our trip.
Hope you are having a good week!
