July 4th

The visitors, Granddogs #1 and #2 (Kirby and Betty) were retrieved by OnlyDaughter, OnlySonInLaw, and Grandsons #1 and #2 at the end of June.
It was great to have all of them visit even if it was a short visit and we look forward to the next visit from all of them.
Chance, our little princess cat, was not happy with the interlopers and it took her a day to come out from under the bed.  When she did, she made a thorough check of the house and was finally satisfied that the house was hers alone again.
The 4th of July was a glorious day!  The weather was so beautiful.  Some family members came down for a cookout followed by some serious pinochle playing afterward.  While my Mom played some pinochle, she spent a good bit of time in the house working on a jig saw puzzle with the help of my sister, J.  The puzzle is only about 1/3 done so Mom will have to visit again soon and finish it.
Our neighbors living on the other side of The Puddle Pond put on a fireworks display every year on the 4th.  They didn't have the show on the 4th which was a disappointment to our company since plans were to sit down at The Puddle Pond and enjoy the fireworks.  Instead, they had a big picnic which ended with fireworks on Saturday.  Mr P and I sat in the gazebo and enjoyed the fireworks but getting good pictures was harder than hard.  Suffice to say that the show was well worth waiting until the 5th to see.
We made a trip to OnlyDaughter's home on Thursday for a short visit.  On Friday, Mr P and our brother-in-law, D, participated in a golf scramble that OnlySonInLaw sponsors which benefits Muscular Dystrophy.  OnlyDaughter and I treated ourselves to a pedi/mani and then lunch where I got to practice my chop stick skills.  Grandsons #1 and #2 had an overnight at camp on Thursday evening so it was just us adults that evening.  Dinner reservations had been made a The Church Works Brewery http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Church_Brew_Works.  Our dinners were delicious and the ambiance in the "restaurant" was amazing.  The Church Works Brewery is a microbrewery/restaurant housed in a former church.  The architecture inside was amazing; the beer making vats are housed in the altar area of the church, the original pipe organ remains on a second story balcony and the brick arches and stained glass windows had wow factor.  I forgot to take my camera along so there are no pictures to share but if you get the chance to have lunch/dinner there, do it.
It's very humid here today.  The morning walk with R and R, my walking buddies, had us all bathed in sweat by the end of our four miles.  There are wrens building a nest in the box next to the house.  We watched one of them (female or male, we aren't sure) bringing bits of twigs and somehow managing to get the long pieces in the entrance hole.

Tonight there is a storm warning with heavy thunderstorms and wind forecast until 11PM.  I didn't get out to see the Super Moon last evening and might not see it tonight either.  The next time it will be visible will be August 10th and there is another date in September when it can be seen.
The weather is to cool off by mid week and possibly we can squeeze some firewood cutting and splitting time in.  Hoping you are having a good weekend wherever you are.
