Happy New Year!

Christmas has come and gone for 2011.  The final weeks leading up to Christmas were spent shopping, wrapping presents, baking all the while going in to the office every weekday.

The holiday was spent with Only Daughter, Only Son-in-Law, Grandson #1 and #2 and the four-legged creatures who live with them. I very much missed the presence of our four-legged creature who we lost in July of this year.

Mr. Puddle and I had a nice time visiting with them.  The Grandson's have such fun opening gifts and trying everything out. Everyone seemed happy to get the cookie of their choice delivered upon arrival.  A specific cookie preference was solicited during the Thanksgiving visit from each person.  Mr Puddle made a significant dent in Grandson #1's soft sugar cookies while we were there, much to my dismay.

We are ready to ring in the New Year tonight and celebrate with a regional favorite tomorrow, pork and sauerkraut.  Monday will be a day off work with friends joining us for a football bowl game on TV and some soup and punch bowl dessert.

Wishing all who visit here a Happy New Year!  Be safe.

No Snow..

Weather forecast for last night was for snow overnight, anywhere from 1-4 inches.  It rained like crazy last evening and the winds blew but no white stuff on the ground this morning here.  Temps today are more like December should be too.

Only Daughter directed me to ancestry.com yesterday to take a look at my Dad's and my Paternal Grandfather's military records. Ancestry.com made this information available in honor of D-Day. I was able to view and print out some documents including my Grandfather's enlistment card and my Dad's ship musters.

While I try not to wish time away, I will be glad for the weekend to arrive tomorrow.  I'm hoping to finish the greater part of my Christmas shopping and work on some sewing and knitting projects that will be gifts.  Have a good weekend wherever you are.

Busy Week!

On a recent visit to the dentist, I was referred to an oral surgeon for an evaluation of a "situation" I have lived with for over 10 years.  Fortunately, I was able to get an appointment on Monday, a day I had already scheduled off work.  Oral Surgeon decided to do some simple surgery and it was scheduled for Wednesday.  Only Novacaine was administered for the procedure, but afterward I came home and slept in the middle of the day.

After a hectic week at work, this evening provided some relaxation.  The library where I volunteer (along with Mr. Puddle on different days) recognized the volunteers at their annual dinner.  There was good food, great music and a fun dancing demonstration tied to the theme Christmas in Hawaii.  Lots of good company too and the chance to meet people that also volunteer but logistics of the days we help often mean we only see each other once a year.

Hope everyone has as nice weather as our forecast.

Back home...

After a wonderful three days spent with Only Daughter, Only Son-in-Law and Grandsons #1 and #2, we are back home.  Both Grandsons enjoyed challenging the grandparents in ping pong and Grandson #2 is a natural at knitting.  I left him with the needles and yarn he has been using to practice until we meet again.

Only Daughter took us both for a pedicure on Friday.  Ah, very relaxing.  I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Day

My very first post with the help of Only Daughter.  The Willie bird was roasted and dispatched with gusto today.  We all enjoyed pie, choices were pumpkin, banana cream and Mississippi Mud and some board games.  Ping pong provided exercise for those who overindulged on desserts.
