Myrtle Beach, SC

We left central Pennsylvania on Friday morning and the further south we drove, the harder the rain fell.  The overhead signs flashed flood warnings and at times it was hard to see but we made it to Smithfield, SC close to dinner time.  After dinner at a nearby restaurant, the remainder of the evening was spent in our hotel room relaxing and preparing for an early morning departure to finish the trip to Myrtle Beach.

The rain continued to fall all night and the next morning.  We arrived at sister J and brother-in-law B's condo near lunchtime.  We stashed our belongings at the condo and headed out for lunch at Broadway Billy's.  Everyone got something different and my shrimp po' boy was delicious.  The photos of the condo were taken at the request of sister-in-law V who vacations at Myrtle Beach with her husband, but they travel in an RV.  The accomodations are excellent.

There was a trip to the grocery store to pick up perishables and other items for the week.  The rain stopped long enough for sister J and I to walk the beach and gather some shells before the deluge began again.  During a break in the clouds and downpour, I managed to capture a couple who were having wedding pictures taken on the beach in the late afternoon.  The picture taking went on for quite some time and the photographer and his assistant were busy beavers.  The photographer certainly earned his wages, as we saw him laying on the sand to get pictures from ground level.

It rained off and on, at times absolutely pouring Sunday and Monday too.  While sister J and I managed to take a morning walk every day, most of our time until Tuesday was spent in the unit.  The governor of the state of South Carolina asked that people stay put due to flooding, closed roads, etc. and we complied.  I knit a little on another pair of socks I'm making, I began reading one of the books I took along (Circling the Sun - an excellent book) and we played pinochle.  Later in the week, sister J got me started on putting together jig saw puzzles on my IPad.

The sunrise and sunset photos from the week are beautiful and will be posted here next time.
I need to get "caught up" on posting because this Saturday is a special day and the post that day will be devoted to that occasion.

Hoping you are having a good week wherever you are.  Now that we are back home, fall is here and the leaves are changing and there's a difference in the air.  While I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in SC last week, I love this area and especially the change in the seasons.
