Day 3 of the boys visit started with a trip to a State Park near our home. The county library system always has a summer reading program and this year it dealt with the stars and the galaxy. As part of the program, a family can participate in an activity which involves taking a drive to a park/lake in our County. The Star Guide then provides instructions for a "path"to follow with landmarks ending in the arrival at a post with a plate secured on top. The plate has a raised picture of various constellations in the sky and a page is provided in the booklet to make rubbings and note a coded number. Prizes are awarded for participation milestones. While we could only find time to go to one park where the boys did two rubbings, the boys enjoyed the mystery of finding the posts.
Grandsons #1 and #2 played the Wii in the afternoon with the boy who lives across from us. After dinner, we enjoyed 9 almost 10 holes on the miniature golf course near our house before the skies opened up and we got drenched. The owners invited us to shelter in their office until the worst of the storm passed by and then we got soft serve ice cream to celebrate (early) Grandson #1's upcoming birthday.
Day 4 saw me off to work and Mr P loaded the boys and their stuff in the car (minus two small bags of dirty laundry) for the return trip to meet up with OnlyDaughter.
The final photography class at the library was on Thursday evening and our instructor had printed out the photos we had emailed him a week or so earlier. Below is my favorite shot - a squash blossom in the garden.
